Rainy season is upon us here in Southern California, and wet conditions on the roads mean some minor preparations are needed, even for drivers of machines as fine as an Audi. Fortunately, there are some very simple things you can do with your Audi to get it ready for the rainy season. The team here at Beach House Imports has detailed them below:
Check the air in your tires to ensure they are inflated to the recommended PSI. Your tired should have sufficient tread left to ensure proper traction on the wet roads. Tires with less than 2/32″ of tread left should be replaced. When tires do their job properly, they displace the water effectively and maintain grip on the road surface. Changes in temperature, the amount of water on the road, and the current condition of the tread can impact their ability to do this.
Another critical tool when it’s raining are your wipers. They have to be working properly, able to properly and cleanly sweep away rain, and also wipe in your windshield cleaning solution when you activate it. If you notice streaks when wiping, or any apparent looseness in the blades, then it may be time to change them.
Wet roads are slick, which makes them inherently more dangerous for all parties. Your braking distances will certainly increase on wet roads, and the risk of accidents, even minor, is greatly increased, too. Have our certified technicians check your Audi brakes to ensure they’re up to code. This is especially important if you’ve noticed any squeaking or squealing noises coming from the brakes.
In any rain, but especially heavy rain, visibility is reduced. For better safety on the road, you’ll need to use your headlights. To that end, ensure they are clean and working properly not only so that you can see where others are and where you’re going, but so that they can see you, too.
